On this winter day, I cannot help but think of my favorite summer weddings. One in particular, was for a well-known, Washington, DC event planner. Ellen arrived at my studio, so excited to plan her wedding, and more importantly with a plan. What else should I have expected from an event planner?
Ellen knew exactly the colors she wanted at her wedding… PINK and BLACK! “Bob, the other designers who I have had meetings with, just don’t get my theme.” She told me I had the vision and to make her dream come true.
It was an August wedding. Such a perfect day for such a wonderful occasion. The sun beamed perfectly in accordance with the chuppah, in the Four Seasons Philadelphia courtyard (it was so great to work with Eric Allen, a Catering Manager at the Four Seasons Philadelphia, he is such a professional!)
As guests entered the foyer to the ballroom, black sheer drape outlined the lucite place card table with fuchsia orchids placed in it. After cocktails, guests collected their hand-made place cards and made their way into the ballroom.
Without a doubt, the ballroom was designed to WOW its audience. Contemporary chandeliers hung over top of square and rectangular tables. Glass and metal spiral ornaments with candles were lit for a romantic atmosphere. Each table was dressed with black velvet swirl linen and was decorated with hot pink roses, orchids, calla lilies etc. The print from the linen was duplicated on the table numbers. We do have to give credit to Ellen, the edible chocolate menus were such a great idea!
When Monday came around, Ellen called and was gushing about the wonderful look that I had designed for her. I was very thankful that such a wonderful planner let us plan her event!
With Valentine’s Day on Sunday, I wanted to share some highlights from my holiday inspired window display at the Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia. I have created various amounts of window displays over the last year, but my Valentine’s window dressing is by far my favorite.
To so many people, love means something different. It takes so many different forms. That is exactly why; “Love isn’t just black and white,” is a perfect title for my design.
Therefore, black and white is key in the overall concept. Love isn’t just black and white; there are so many things that add to it, hence the red bouquet! Also, let’s not forget, texture is in this season! That is why I knew feathers and leather would be perfect for the design. The floor of the display is an alternating pattern of black and white ostrich feathers. The table is made out of a lucite structure covered in white leather. Phalaenopsis orchids and black containers are a part of such a gorgeous display. Not to mention my favorite part, hanging orchids on black ribbon and crystals! Don’t forget to go to the Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia to see our display window!
With a touch of red for the holiday, this display definitely wins the hearts of everyone!

On Monday, January 25th, the AAA 2010 Five and Four Diamond Awards Luncheon took place at the Four Season Hotel in Philadelphia. I was honored when Elizabeth, the Director of Catering at the hotel, asked me to design the floral décor for the luncheon.
I wanted to make sure that this design was extra special. The hotel was receiving their twenty-sixth consecutive five diamond award and the Fountain Restaurant, in the hotel, was receiving their sixteenth consecutive five diamond award. I decided that it was time to get away from the winter blues and create a bright and exciting look for such a happy occasion.
I love yellow, and what a better way to brighten up such a rainy Monday! Each table had brown ostrich leather boxes with white phalaenopsis orchids, yellow calla lilies, gerber daisies, agapanthus and various yellow roses. We received tons of accolades from the attending guests and the Four Seasons as well.

Congratulations to all of the winners!
Welcome to my blog! What a great way to start off the New Year!
I just got back from a wonderful vacation in Italy! While sipping on delicious red wines in the countryside, I couldn’t help but think of all the wonderful accomplishments of 2009.
2009 was the year we dazzled the public, even in a recession! Countless brides, families, bar and

bat mitzvah boys/girls and honorees graced our studio to plan to-die-for events! Of course, I enjoyed designing all of them! Some of the highlights were adorned with crystals, hand made custom table linens and hanging chandeliers. The last year combines a sense of old world elegance with a contemporary feel. Now, doesn’t that just sound like a dream?
Max and Alex’s bar mitzvah was based off of the Sukkot, the Jewish Harvest. As you can see, hand-sewn leaves and bundles of branches were only some of the ornate detail that went into this yearlong process. We received great feedback and 2010 looks like a bar/bat mitzvah year!
Last but not least. Rachel and Blake’s wedding was a blast! All Rachel requested was bling. Every last arrangement had some type of crystal or diamond strategically placed inside it. Let’s not forget her bouquet! Diamonds were put into the flowers and on the ribbon, which tied the whole look together.
I hope my clients enjoyed planning their events as much as I did. LFD misses you already. Let’s plan another event soon!
